Tower 10 Runs 2nd Alarm Fire In Calverton

May 7, 2001. At 0603hrs, units were dispatched to 11234 Cherry Hill Rd. for reported smoke in an apartment. In the area of the call, car 550 (President of the Prince George's County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association) arrived on the scene and advised smoke showing from the roof, within minutes he advised he had heavy fire side 3 and requested the second alarm. Engine 411 (Beltsville) arrived on the scene and advanced an attack line to the fire floor (1st floor) for an interior attack, Tower 31 (Beltsville) arrived on the scene and the crew positioned ground ladders to the fire building and searched the building using the Thermal Imaging Camera. Engine 112 (Branchville) advanced an attack line to the floor above the fire and Engine 921 (Hillendale) advanced a back up line to the fire apartment. Engine 121 (College Park) advanced a line to side 3 through another building and then made an attack via a ground ladder to the fire floor. Engine 341(Chillum) was the RIC Team. No Injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation at this time. Chief 31 had command. Units cleared at 0930 hrs.
