Staffing

Staffing is provided by both volunteer and career firefighters. During the hours of 3pm - 7am, our volunteer staff is made up of men and women from Laurel and its surrounding areas. The volunteers work the after hours shift, weekends and holidays to ensure the Fire Department is always staffed to serve the residents of Laurel, as per their motto "Service for Others". During the hours of 7am - 3pm, the Prince George's County Fire Department staffs our station with four career (paid) firefighters: one lieutenant, one technician (driver), and two firefighters. During these weekday hours, incidents can be handled by a combination of all-volunteer, all-career, or part volunteer/part career staff. Our department has a long history of working very well with the career staff stationed at the firehouse.
