At the LVFD's annual banquet held on October
20th, 2001, Robert Maring recieved the "Firefighter Of The
Year" award. Maring, a member for 35 years, was nominated for
the award by fellow firefighters. Maring
currently holds the position of financial secretary and is responsible
for paying and tracking the numerous
bills that the LVFD receives. He also spends the majority of his
time handling the day to day administrative
needs of the department. Maring was active in fire fighting until
he was shot in the line of duty in 1983 on the
job as a Washinton D.C. police officer.
This year's banquet was the 99th annual for the LVFD. The banquet
was dedicated to Thomas F. Bolton,
Sr., who celebrated 60 years as a member this year. Click
