Thomas Bolton Sr. celebrates
60 years of service at the 99th annual awards banquet

Thomas Fenton Bolton, Sr. joined the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department on March 13, 1941. He was born April 3, 1921 to Leola and Harry Bolton who both served the LVFD. Bolton served as a career firefighter at Fort Meade Fire Department and as a forest warden for the Maryland Department of Forest and Parks after leaving the military in 1946. He joined the New Friendship Airport Fire Department when it opened in 1952 when the fire department was a part of the Army & Research Development Center before becoming Baltimore Washington International Airport. He retired from BWI as Acting Chief. Tommy served the LVFD in many roles, especially in the fire line offices. He served as chief for several years beginning in the 70's. He completed Basic Fire School given by the University of Maryland Fire Service Extension in 1948. He served as secretary of the Maryland Fire Chief's Association for many years and in 1987 the Fire Chief's Association dedicated their yearbook to him. Thomas F. Bolton Sr. has been an outstanding member and officer of the LVFD and we salute him for his dedicated service to our department. |
