The Laurel Beautification Committee, established by Mayor Casula sponsored a Community Planting Project at the Northwest corner of Main Street and MD 216.  The event was held on August 5, 2000 and was made possible through the efforts of volunteers who provided the labor and cash donations from the community and businesses to purchase the plantings.

At the request of the Committee the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department provided four service calls to water the plantings on the few days of the month that we had no rain. The first watering occurred on the day of the event after the work was completed.
