An 18 wheeler lays on its
side on the ramp from southbound I-95 to eastbound Rt.198.
February 18th, 2002. A tractor trailer truck carrying crackers and cookies overturned on the ramp from southbound I-95 onto eastbound Rt.198 shortly after 9am on Monday. As a result of the rollover, diesel fuel leaked from the truck's fuel tank onto the grass area beside the ramp. The leak was contained by fire fighters and Prince George's County Hazmat personnel on the scene. The driver of the truck was injured but his injuries were not life threatening. As a side note, the tractor trailer in Monday's accident rolled over in the same spot as a gasoline tanker truck did almost 1 year ago to the day. The tanker accident, which occurred on February 19th 2001, caused several hundred gallons of gasoline to be spilled onto the ground.
