November 12, 2001. Firefighters were called to 14015 Bramble Lane for a reported apartment fire. While enroute, communications received numerous calls for a building on fire. First arriving units reported fire showing from the first floor with extension to the second and third floors. The fire quickly spread to the attic and through the roof. Over 100 firefighters from the surrounding area battled the blaze. One firefighter suffered an arm injury. There were no civilian injuries. The fire started in a basement apartment in the rear of the building and quickly spread up through the building.Seeing how quickly this fire spread, The Laurel Fire Department would like to remind everybody to make sure you have working smoke detectors in your home. If you live in Laurel (Prince George's County) and have smoke detector questions or any fire related concerns, please call the firehouse (301-776-3600). We would be more than happy to assist you.
