The Laurel Volunteer Fire Department's Auxiliary Sponsors Annual Fire Prevention Poster Contest



Family and friends of the contest participants fill the LVFD meeting room to cheer on the winners.


The Laurel Volunteer Fire Department's Auxiliary sponsors a fire prevention poster contest every year for fire prevention week.  The winners of the contest are announced during the LVFD's open house.  Participants are students grades kindergarten through sixth inclusive who attend Prince George's County Schools in the Laurel area.  Posters must illustrate fire prevention or fire safety.  The members of the Auxiliary judged the posters by grade and school.  Each winner received an award and certificate for first, second, and  third place along with an honorable mention category.

Schools participating in this years competition were Bond Mill Elementary, Montpelier Elementary, Faith Baptist Elementary, St. Mary's of the Mills Elementary, Deerfield Run Elementary, Scotchtown Hills Elementary, Laurel Elementary, James Harrison Elementary, and The Oaklands Elementary.
