LVFD Provides Standby Crews During Terrorist Attacks
Sept. 11, 2001. After the attack on the Pentagon, Prince George's County Fire and Rescue Chief Ron Blackwell ordered all members, career and volunteer, to report to their stations. The LVFD maintained staffing for all equipment in our station ( 3 engines and the ladder tower) into the night. Apparatus that was out of service at the shop for minor repairs were returned to their respective stations to be placed in service. While several Prince George's County companies responded to the multiple-alarm fire at the Pentagon, Laurel units remained in the station to protect Laurel.Related Links:
