Brooklyn Bridge Road - Garage Apartment Fire

At 0045hrs on Sunday, January 15, units from Laurel and Beltsville were alerted to 7806 Brooklyn Bridge Road for a resident smelling an odor of smoke. Engine 104, Chief 10A, and Chief 10B responded with a total of seven volunteers. Upon arrival, Engine 104 found a two story detached garage with apartments located on the second floor. Upon investigation, the engine crew found visible smoke and blistering paint in a second floor apartment. The crew stretched a 250' attack line down the driveway to the apartment and began to open up. Upon further investigation, fire was found between the walls starting to extend up to the attic. The crew made quick work of the fire, checked the attic, and performed overhaul operations. The assignment was quickly held with Engine 104, Rescue Engine 49, and Truck 31. The volunteers from Laurel were on scene for an hour.
