49 star John Travolta during a break in the filming.
April 29, 2003. Members of the LVFD went to Baltimore to act as extras in the filming of the movie Ladder 49. Scheduled to hit theaters in 2004, Ladder 49 is a story about a Baltimore City firefighter. Starring in the film is John Travolta and Joaquin Phoenix. Members arrived in Tower 10 about 5:30am on Tuesday and by 9am were beginning to shoot their first scene. Firefighters from all over the east coast, from as far away as North Carolina and Massachusetts, lined 6 blocks of Lombard Street in Fells Point to participate in a funeral scene. By 8pm that evening, the film crew got the shots they needed and finished for the day. A very friendly Travolta met firefighters, taking pictures and signing autographs, between shoots. At one point he even spoke to one of the firefighters wives on the firefighter's cell phone. While it was a long day everybody had a good time.Video Clip Of John Travolta With The Extras
